About the HP-machine
The HP-machine (HardPlastic machine) is a lamination machine that was specially designed to laminate softcover books (paperbacks) that are produced in small to medium quantities. The machine applies a double-thick lamination layer (340 micron crystal-clear polyester) to the spine and front and back covers of a softcover book.
By semi-automatically applying this film to softcover books, they attain an appearance and sturdiness almost like that of a hardcover book. Depending on the quality of the books, the machine can process six books per minute. The HP-machine will increase the quality of the books. The lamination ensures the books are well protected to withstand heavy use and maintain a good appearance.

Using the HP-machine
The HP-machine can be used in conjunction with the automatic Trimming Machine to cut off excess film. The machine can also be placed before a Stacker. The Stacker will automatically stack books after they pass through the HP-machine or Trimming Machine. NBD Biblion uses the complete production line including a trimming machine on a daily basis. In total, this complete production line has a length of 4,700 mm.
Optional add-on: the measuring table
The measuring table is available as an optional add-on for the HP-machine. During single-copy production, every book can be placed on the measuring table. After measuring a book, a light turns on over the bin where the correct size of film for the measured book is stored. It is possible to store up to sixteen widths of film. The HP-machine can also operate automatically.
